I don’t know about the rest of you but I am loving this wave of women embracing health and fitness. Photos of girls in athletic wear have always caught my eye. So while out in Miami I decided to do photo shoot with my good friend Nicole Mejia. I mean if I was going to go through with this themed shoot I wanted it to be with someone who lives and breaths fitness. Her and I linked up at the hotel I was staying at to do this shoot. Unfortunately for us there was a storm coming in so I couldn’t even hit the locations I wanted to. Rather we stuck it out on the top floor of the my hotel that had this awesome covered white area.

Nicole Mejia @nicole_mejia – Bring the Rain – Van Styles
While out in Miami, one of my main objectives was to link up with Nicole to shoot for a project. If you have ever been to Miami especially in the summer, then you know it has random storms through out the day. So it wasn’t too surprising that while shooting a set on the roof of the hotel, we saw a storm coming. We shot until it was too much for that particular set. When we headed back to my hotel room and looked at the rain falling onto my balcony, I suggested we keep shooting in a different outfit. I mean, fuck sitting around and waiting right? And this is one of the reasons why I love working with Nicole. She is always down to create. She pulled out this awesome grey dress thing made from a T-shirt material and I knew that was what she should wear for this.

Accompanied by her bra and thong underneath, we were ready to go. This definitely was one of those times I was stoked I booked a room with a balcony. Shooting this set was really fun. Not only due to the spontaneity of the situation, but just for the rush and fun of it. These storms don’t last all day. You can get 5 hours of rain or just 1 hour. Hard to believe it myself but I still have some unreleased photo sets from my shoot with Nicole Mejia for her V/SUAL capsule. This was a fun set that had a minimal setting to it. Using some sheer drapes to diffuse the lighting coming in from the corner windows served as a perfect soft box for our shoot. She had these rad boy shorts with all over banana print that she loved. I thought they were fun and would be cool to shoot her in along with a bra that went with the outfit. So take a look at this set and be sure to check out Nicole’s collection while supplies last.

February is here which means Valentines day is coming up. Now I am not much for holidays but I love this time of year. Simply because it allows me to create another Heart Breakers capsule. This year I had the good fortune of working with 4 amazing models for this collection. So to get the ball rolling I figured I would kick things off with one of the photo sets I shot with Nicole Mejia for the project. While out in Miami in December I thought it would be fun to rent a boat and shoot out in the water. I have been to Miami enough times in the past couple of years but I have never done a shoot like this. So I figured it would be fun.
